7DAYS EuroCup, Top 16 Round 4 MVP: Alexey Shved, Khimki Moscow Region

Shved is the MVP of the round

EuroCup

Round 4 of the 7DAYS EuroCup produced the first three qualifiers for the quarterfinals - Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, FC Bayern Munich and Valencia Basket - and got a few others closer to their goal. One of these teams was Khimki Moscow Region, whose Alexey Shved earned weekly MVP honors thanks to a performance index rating of 37, the highest this week. Shved pushed Khimki to a 85-84 home win over ratiopharm Ulm with his best EuroCup game ever. He set some new personal records at points (32), assists (8), three-pointers made (8) and PIR. To those impressive numbers Shved also added 4 rebounds, 1 steal and 6 fouls drawn. Next in line this week was Hapoel Yahav Jerusalem's Amaré Stoudemire with a PIR of 33. Stoudemire netted 26 points (including 10 of 12 free throws), pulled 9 boards and drew 10 fouls for his best game yet this season. Completing the top individual performances of the week were Ulm's Augustine Rubit (PIR 31), Cedevita Zagreb's Miro Bilan (PIR 28) and Zenit St Petersburg's Ryan Toolson (PIR 27).

Individual highs: Cedevita's Babic sets new personal record, 9 assists

It may come as no surprise that Shved's 32 points are the best mark this week. He only scored one shot from the field, but then he added 8 threes in 13 attempts and 6 of 10 free throws. Toolson kept his high scoring numbers with his 27 points against Hapoel and is still the top scorer in the EuroCup despite Shved's getting closer. Drew Gordon of Lietuvos Rytas lived up to his reputation of best rebounder in the competition topping the rankings this week with 10 boards, the same number pulled by Rubit. Luka Babic of Cedevita shined in the assists department this week with his 9 decisive passes, a personal mark for him. On the defensive end, three players managed to get 4 steals apiece: Eulius Baez of Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas, Ryan Boatright of Cedevita and Antoine Diot of Valencia. Last but not least, Khimki's Sergey Monia was huge in defense stopping more plays than anybody else with his 3 blocks.
