FIP President Petrucci on FIBA-EuroLeague "war": I wrote a letter to FIBA asking for clarity
The president of the Italian Federation: We as Italians have paid a price very high and not sustainable
Italian basketball federation president Gianni Petrucci spoke with Vincenzo Di Schiavi of La Gazzetta dello Sport talking about the FIBA-Euroleague war.
FIP forced the four Italian clubs that have been invited to play in Eurocup to withdraw from the competition.
“The guideline was not to play in EuroCup. Some Federations have ignored the rules. Now I have written a letter to FIBA asking for clarity. We cannot be anymore in such a situation. I hope that EuroLeague and FIBA will reach an agreement. We (Italians) have paid a price very high and not sustainable”.
