Cantù asked for Eurocup wild card, Gerasimenko ready to play at least one game next season

Pallacanestro Cantù owner Dmitry Gerasimenko spoke with La Gazzetta dello Sport about the future of the Italian club.
Gerasimenko became the owner of Cantù in the middle of the 2015-2016 season.
The Russian billionaire confirmed that Cantù asked for a wild card to play in the next Eurocup season.
“We’ll choose the coach depending on the competition we are going to play. If we play in Eurocup, I am more oriented on hiring a foreign coach” Gerasimenko said. “The first “signing” will be Dmitry Gerasimenko. I promised my fans that I will be playing at least one game next season. Not less than 20 minutes with at least 6 points. I have offered contracts to five of our players who won the Under 20 Italian title. But I don’t want them to sit on the bench, I want them to be part of the rotations. We’ll give them the chance to shine in one of the most famous clubs in Europe” Gerasimenkio added. “The dream? I have half bottle of red wine that I promised myself I will finish to drink it when we’ll beat Olimpia Milano. I hope it will happen next season”. Gerasimenko added. “My money? When I’ll need someone to count all of them, I will put an announcement on the newspapers”.
