Semifinals, Game 1 MVP: Walter Tavares, Gran Canaria

The most decisive part of the season started on Wednesday with the two semifinals. Banvit Bandirma and Khimki Moscow Region will practically start over in Game 2, but Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas managed to pull the upset against Unics in Kazan and won by 13 points, 70-83, which gives the Spanish team an upper hand before Game 2 next week. The main pillar of the huge win in Russia for Gran Canaria was Walter Tavares, who managed to also get the weekly MVP honors thanks to his performance index rating of 30, the most among all winning players this week. Tavares scored 12 points, including 5 of 6 two-pointers, pulled 11 rebounds, dished 4 assists (a career record for him), blocked 2 shots and drew 5 fouls in an almost perfect all-around performance to help his team reach the furthest ever in the Eurocup. Second in line this week was Banvit's Earl Rowland, who managed to pull a performance index rating of 23 in his team's one-point win over Khimki. Rowland scored 21 points, pulled 3 rebounds and dished 5 assists in a valuable win that, however, doesn't give any cushion to the Turkish team. Completing the top five individual performances this week, Khimki's Tyrese Rice (23), Banvit's Chuck Davis (22) and Unics' Sergey Bykov (21).

Individual highs: Tomas Bellas, another career high with 9 assists

This week's list of top scorers is started by Tyrese Rice thanks to his 22 points against Banvit. Only Rowland managed to score more than 20 points thanks to his 21. Tavares was also the best player under the boards thanks to his 11 rebounds, 8 of them offensive, another career best for him. Khimki's James Augustine was the only other player this week to reach double digits with his 10 boards. Tomas Bellas of Gran Canaria continues with his great season as he dished as many as 9 assists, a new career high for him. Unics' Bykov was a close second with 8 decisive passes. Kostas Kaimakoglou of Unics had as many as 3 steals, while three players had 2 blocks each to top the rankings this week: Tavares, Davis and Paul Davis of Khimki.
