Eurocup Regular Season Round 8 MVP: Guillermo Hernangomez, Sevilla

More teams advanced to the Last 32 in Round 8 of the regular season, and some others got crucial wins to stay alive in the race. In the latter group was Baloncesto Seville, who defeated Virtus Rome at home by 98-80, led by a huge Guillermo Hernangomez who racked up an performance index rating of 31 to earn weekly MVP honors. Hernangomez was the player with the highest index among all players that won this week. He scored 21 points (6 of 7 twos), pulled 12 rebounds, dished 4 assists and had 2 blocks for a great all-around performance in 27 minutes. Next in line was Walter Tavares of Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas, with an index 29 thanks to his 13 points and 12 rebounds in a home win over JDA Dijon. The player with the best individual performance this week however was Milan Macvan of Partizan NIS Belgrade, with an index 33 that was not enough to lead his team to a home win over Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem. wo more players in losing teams had index 29 this week: Taurean Green of ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne and Benas Veikalas of Telekom Baskets Bonn.

 

 

Individual highs: Four players with 8 assists apiece!

Two players led all scorers this week as Randy Culpepper of Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd and Veikalas of Telekom Bonn netted 28 points apiece in their respective games. Three players pulled as many as 12 rebounds this week: Hernangomez, Tavares and Macvan. Up to eight players managed to rebound in double digits. Four players dished as many as 8 assists apiece - Andrea Cinciarini of Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia, Omar Cook of Buducnost VOLI Podgorica, Malcolm Delaney of Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar and Brad Wanamaker of Brose Baskets Bamberg. Finally, Antanas Kavaliauskas of Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius was a giant under the glass with his 4 blocks, leading all other players this week.
