Eurocup Regular Season Week 1 MVP: Pietro Aradori, FoxTown Cantu

The 2013-14 Eurocup season started with a bang this week. 48 teams playing 24 games, left a lot of room for variables, but when the dust settled at the end of the night on Wednesday, Pietro Aradori of FoxTown Cantu was the player with the highest index rating at 36 points. Aradori led his team to a slim 88-86 home win over Telenet Ostend thanks to his 28 points - 7 of 8 2-pointers, 11 of 11 free throws -, 6 rebounds and 6 drawn fouls for a 36 index rating. Next in line was VEF Riga's Kenan Bajramovic with an index rating of 34. He scored 22 points - 6 of 10 2-pointers, 2 of 5 threes and 4 of 6 free throws -, pulled 9 boards, dished 5 assists and drew 7 fouls. In third place came in Uros Duvnjak, who led Panionios Athens to a 77-72 home win over Radnicki Kragujevac. Duvnjak scored 19 points (including 10 of 10 free throws), pulled 6 boards, dished 4 assists and drew 10 fouls for an index rating of 30. 

Individual highs: Monra Yarou of Radnicki, 16 rebounds! 

Young Georgios Bogris was the best scorer of the first week with his 28 points, helping PAOK Thessaloniki rack up the first win against Buducnost, 85-84. Mouphthaou Monra Yarou of Radnicki Kragujevac sent waves over the competition with his debut as he led all rebounders with 16 boards. Niels Marnegrave of Telenet Ostend was the best passer of the opening week despite his team's loss with 10 assists. Two players led the steals rankings the first night with 5 apiece, Jermain Flowers of CSU Asesoft Ploiesti and Nolan Smith of Cedevita Zagreb. Finally, three players had as many blocks to lead the charts - Andrea Crosariol of EWE Baskets Oldenburg, Brandon Paul of Nizhny Novgorod and Vanja Plisnic of Aykon TED Ankara Kolejliler.
