Ragland is the MVP of Basketball Champions League Round 2

Champions League

A number of players played out of their skin on Gameday 2, but the Most Valuable Player title goes to Sidigas Scadone Avellino's Joe Ragland.

The Sidigas Scandone Avellino point guard was instrumental in a 72-69 win over SIG Strasbourg that made the Italians climb the ladder to the top of Group D with a 2-0 record.

Ragland led Avellino's big fourth quarter comeback and finished with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, while also dishing out 10 assists, grabbing six rebounds, stealing the ball three times and even blocking a shot.

Although the teams have played only two games each, Ragland already has a couple of records of the BCL. He joined Neptunas' Larry Drew II, his team-mate Marques Green and Oldenburg's Chris Kramer as the only players to dish out double-digit assists in a game. Ragland is also tied with Iberostar Tenerife's Carl English and SIG Strasbourg's A.J. Slaughter with six three-pointers made in a single game.

With 20.5 ppg, 5.5 apg, 4.5 rpg and 2.0 spg, we could be seeing a lot more from the 26-year-old this season. His MVP honours come a week after Rosa Radom's Tyrone Brazelton won the first award of the season.
