BIBL: no team from Israel for the next season
Galil Gilboa decided to not play in 2015 Balkan League
There will be no team from Israel in the next season of EUROHOLD Balkan League. In the past three years BC Galil Gilboa was a part of the competition and during 2011/2012 season Hapoel Tel Aviv played as well.
The main reasons for not having an Israeli team the upcoming season are two. The first one is the unstable situation in Israel and the fact that is not yet clear when everything will be solved.
The second is the fact that according to the regulations of Israeli Winner League each team can have up to 6 Americans in the roster. For this season Galil Gilboa decided to rely more on its Americans and EUROHOLD BIBL didn′t want to put the other teams in the tournament in disadvantage.
The Sports Director Mr. Shay Shtriks and the owner of Galil Gilboa - Mr. Haim Ohayon had a meeting and reached a mutual agreement that the team will not participate this season. Both sides are happy from each other and Mr. Ohayon said that surely Galil will be back in the competition.
The League is waiting for three teams to respond if they will be a part of the competiton. Then at the end of this week it will be clear whether there will be 10 or 12 teams and the programme will be sent to the participants.
