Krka Novo Mesto tabs Allan Ray
L'ex Roma, Ferrara e Montegranaro sbarca in Slovenia
The day before the start of Eurocup competition, Slovenian side KRKA Novo Mesto announced the arrival of guard Allan Ray to fill in for injured Curtis Stinson. Ray (1.88 meters, 27 years old) played in Montegranaro of the Italian League last season where he averaged 10.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.7 steals in over 25 minutes per game. Ray played college ball in Villanova until 2006. After that, he had a year in the NBA with the Boston Celtics but the next season he moved to Europe where he signed for Lottomatica Roma, seeing some Euroleague action for two seasons in which he averaged 6.8 points and 2.3 assists in six games for the 2008-09 season. He was released by Roma on January of 2009 but he stayed in Italy first with Carife Ferrara and later with Montegranaro. However he had to sit the 2009-10 season out due to a knee injury that kept him sidelined for a long time. Ray is expected to make his Eurocup debut with KRKA against Lietuvos Rytas in Group F today.
