Cedevita tabs forward Vukusic

Cedevita announced the signing of experienced forward Vedran Vukusic on Wednesday. Vukusic (206, 28), who arrives from Euroleague side Cibona, agreed to a two-year deal. He averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in the Euroleague last season, his third with Cibona. He was especially strong in the Croatian League finals, averaging 12.3 points on 81.3% two-point shooting and 90.9% free-throw shooting for a 15 index in the three games Cibona won to claim the title. Vukusic left Croatia as a teenager to play college basketball at Northwestern University between 2001 and 2006. In his senior year, Vukusic averaged 19.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He followed that with a move to Nahariya of the Israeli League where he spent one season before moving to Cibona in 2007. Among his career highlights are winning two Croatian League championships and one Croatian Cup.
"We brought in a brilliant player who will surely help a lot in the coming season," athletic director Matej Mamic said. "Coach Petrovic feels he is important piece for us in the new season. Vedran is a devoted player, very scrappy and I know that off the court he is very fair, so I am very pleased he signed a two-year contract with Cedevita. This is proof that Cedevita going in the direction and that we will be ambitious as ever next season."
