Cedevita gets Adriatic league 09/10 wild card
Quattro le squadre croate al via della NLB
Management Board of Adriatic league finally made a decision who will be the 14h participant for 09/10 season. The League announced today that Cedevita Zagreb will get the wild card, meaning that Croatia will once again have 4 participants in the regional championship. Cibona, Zadar and Zagreb booked a place for it regularly.
Cedevita finished last season with below average results. They were changing a lot during the season finishing as No.5 in Croatian League for the title. At the first stage Cedevita was No.1 and the team expected at least to reach the Playoffs later, but that did not happen. However, they hired experienced coach Slobodan Subotic sending a clear signal about the ambitions in the next season. Coach Subotic stated that this is great news for the club. He said that the club deserved this and now they can focus on work.
As a reminder, other 13 patricipants for the next season are Partizan, Crvena zvezda, Hemofarm STADA, FMP, Lions, Union Olimpija, Cibona, Zadar, Budunost, Bosna, Helios, Zagreb and Siroki Eronet.
Last season we had Split and Vojvodina in, but they will miss the contest in 09/10. New teams are Bosnian champion Siroki Eronet and Cedevita. The defending champion is Partizan, who won the title last 3 years. Beside that, since 2001 Olimpija, Reflex (FMP), Zadar and Hemofarm were the champions. Most probably some of these teams (adding Cibona) will make it again.
