Cedevita appoints Slobodan Subotic as their new Head Coach

L'allenatore prende il posto di Medvedec

ABA Liga

It seems that Cedevita did not have to wait long after its Head Coach Srecko Medvedec left the post. The answer was found in form of Slobodan Subotic who will take over the team as a Head Coach. Subotic has became available only recently after leaving Split. He started this season as Split's Head Coach moving later to the position of the Sport Director. However, bad financial situation at Split forced him to ask for termination of his contract and he has been free agent ever since. Cedevita was the quickest on to take advantage of this opportunity and starting Monday Slobodan Subotic is expected to conduct his first training.
As a player, Subotic spent most of career with Olimpija Ljubljana, but he has also played for Barcelona and Aris. He has played for Yugoslavian National Team but after gaining Greek citizenship he also played for Greek National Team from 1987-1991. After retiring from playing, Subotic signed with Iraklis Thessaloniki in Greek League as their Head Coach. Other than Iraklis, Slobodan Subotic was also Head Coach of AEK, Panathanaikos, Panionios, PAOK and Olympiacos all in Greece. He was especially successful in Panathanikos whom he led to two consecutive titles in 1998 and 1999. Subotic also had a brief stint in Italy where he has coached Sicc BPA Jesi before joining BC Split in 2007. Last season Subotic has lead Split to Croatian Playoff Finals where they have lost to Cibona. This year he started with Split but because of poor financial situation he has left the club mid season. Slobodan Subotic was also a Head Coach of Slovenian National Team from 2001-2003.
