Cizmic expresses desire to stay at Split

Il coach desidera rimanere alla guida della squadra croata anche la prossima stagione

ABA Liga

Split has been facing not so brilliant times year. While they remain competitive in Adriatic League and Croatian Championship (Semifinals), they have been facing hard financial times. Because of this instability players had hard time focusing on the court which already forced Head Coach Slobodan Subotic to leave with Teo Cizmic (205-F-71) taking his place. Last month it seemed that Cizmic will follow his colleagues suit and will leave Split, after he offered his resignation. At the time, Cizmic stated that he was having hard time trying to motivate his team and that the only solution he had is to resign. Split president Dino Radja reacted quickly to dismiss that Cizmic is leaving, stating that he will stay on until the end of Croatian Championship. Now it seems that Teo Cizmic has expressed his desire to stay on as Head Coach of Split for years to come. Even in face of hard situation at the club, Cizmic is confident that Split can continue to perform well since most of the players which are the core of the team now are expected to be in Split next season as well. This may be good news for Board of Directors at Split who have been satisfied with Teo Cizmic s work so far. Still final decision of Teo Cizmic s future will be made after the Playoff is over. Currently Split is playing Semifinals series against Cibona. In first game they suffered 18 point defeat, but the result is not true picture of what was happening on the court. Visitors from Split put up a hard fight against reigning Champion in Zagreb and made them work hard for their victory. Teo Cizmic remains positive that Split can stay competitive in this series and refuses to call it a day. Game two is scheduled for Saturday.
