Split lands Darlon Johnson

KK Split announced the signing of American Darlon Johnson (206-F-81, college: UNLV). 28-year old power forward started the current season in Turkey as a member of Banvit. He appeared 15 times in TBL averaging 10.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 1.7 apg. In EuroChallenge he played 4 games registering 9.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 1.5 ag. In January he left Banvit and joined another Turkish team, Aliaga. With them Darlon Johnson had 7 games with 13.3 ppg and 4.7 rpg. Few days ago he parted ways with Aliaga and according to the rumors the reason was lack of payment. Season 07/08 Johnson also spent in Turkey, but as a player of Darussafaka. In May 2008 he moved to Quatar (Al Rayyan) for the Asian Clubs Championship and later transferred to Al Sahel from Kuwait. He has experience from NBDL, Latvia, ABA and Greek A1 league. In 2006 he won the championship in Latvia with BK Ventspils. At the same year his team reached the Baltic league quarterfinals. In 2003 Johnson graduated at the UNLV averaging 15.5 ppg and 6.3 rpg in the senior season. He supposes to join Split on Thursday. Next Tuesday Split will meet Cibona in derby game.
