Cibona conquers ABA League for the 1st time
First victory in ABA League for the Croatian team

The amazing this season's cinderella story of Cibona has ended with a celebration in the final game of the league over their city rivals Cedevita. The famous team from Zagreb, the wolves of Tuškanac, have won the ABA League champions' title for the first time ever and have added the last missing trophy, which they have never managed to win, to their trophy case.
After an early 4th minute 4:0 lead by Cedevita, Cibona put together a 14:4 partial result in the following 4 minutes and took, the lead, that they havent let go all until the half time, when they were leading by 8 points. Cedevita came close in 14th minute (23:21), but the allowed the wolves another – 8:0 run and a safe lead at the half time of the game, when the scorebord has shown the result 34:26 in favour of Cibona. Marin Rozić was the half time top scorer with 10 points scored for Cibona and Marino Baždarić put in 7 for the city rivals.
The half time was a wake-up call for Dario Šarić, who put in 9 points in the 3rd quarter and helped his team to maintain the secure advantage before the beginning of the last period, which the Wolves have entered with the 50:39 advantage (50:39) and a huge confidence, reflected in the fact, that they were shooting three pointers 8/20 (40%) in the opening 30 minutes of the game.
The excellent performance o Cibona continued in the last quarter and in 34th minute, when Marko Jagodić Kuridža dunked like the beast, they already had a 57:41 lead over the Vitamins. The fans of „The Wolves", that travelled to Belgrade to cheer for their heroes, have already begun their celebration and it lasted all until the end of the game, when the players and the coaching staff joined them.
The final score is 72:59 for Cibona. Dario Šarić finished the game with a double double (23 points and 11 rebounds) and was the top scorer of the game in the end. His teammate, Cibona's captain Marin Rozić scored 13. For Cedevita, Marino Baždarić scored 13 points, while Goran Suton added 10.
Interesting facts:
- Cibona won the ABA League title for the first time ever. This was the only missing trophy in their trophy case, of all the competitions that they have ever participated in;
- Cedevita participated in ABA League final for the second time in history. Both times they were defeated;
- Dario Šarić, officially the most improved player of this season, was voted the Final Four MVP by the accredited media in Kombank Arena;
- Dario Šarić finished both ABA League Final Four games with a double double;
- Cibona head coach Slaven Rimac and assistant coach Jurica Golemac played ABA League final in 2004, but did not manage to win the trophy. Now they did it as coaches;
- Cibona is only the second Croatian team to lift the ABA League trophy. They did it 11 years after Zadar in Tivoli 2003.
