Robert Dozier close to sign in the Philippines with Alaska Milk
The player will join the team soon
Alaska Milk is confident it has finally found an able reinforcement in former Memphis Tiger and Miami Heat draft pick Robert Dozier.
Alaska coach Luigi Trillo said he expects the 6-foot-9 Dozier, who played alongside Derrick Rose for the Tigers squad that finished second to the Kansas Jayhawks in the 2008 NCAA tournament, to accept the Aces’ counter offer within this week.
Dozier is working on some issues with his travel documents but, if all goes well, is expected to arrive this weekend at the latest.
“He’s not a bad choice. We’re coming to terms,” Trillo told Spin.ph. “He’s played for the Miami Heat in the Summer League recently. And for him to be brought there (Heat) says a lot about what he can bring to the team.”
The Lithonia, Georgia native was selected by the Heat during the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft. He averaged 1.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10.8 minutes in last year’s Summer League before being waived by Miami.
Dozier also had professional basketball stints in Greece and Spain.
