Guangdong Wins CBA Title

Guangdong won the CBA title by defeating Xinjiang 106-95. Guangdong won four out of five games in the finals.
Xinjiang jumped off to a 32-23 first quarter advantage but Guangdong came back to lead 50-48 at the half. Guangdong led 78-68 after three quarters. Zhu Fangyu (201-F-83) led Guangdong with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Smush Parker had 27 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Zhou Peng had 15 points and 6 rebounds. Jason Dixon had 12 points and 9 rebounds.
Su Wei (212-C-89) had 10 points and 16 rebounds, showing dominance inside. Listed as born in 1989, Su has the potential to be a second-round NBA draft choice if he performs this way consistently next year. But young Wang Zheng also deserves major playing time at center, and 35-year-old Jason Dixon is still going strong.
Juan Mendez led Xinjiang with 33 points and 6 rebounds. But he stationed himself outside, hitting 9 of 17 three-pointers. This let Guangdong outrebound Xinjiang 47-34. Mengke Bateer had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks, but fouled out in 41 minutes and lost the rebounding battle to Su, 16-10. Mulati scored 17 points but fouled out in 27 minutes. Myron Allen had 15 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals but hit only 1 of 7 three-pointers. Xu Guochong scored only 3 points, hitting 1 of 8 shots. Mai Wulan scored 8 points in 14 minutes.
