Guangdong agreed to 5-year $16.1 million extension with Yi Jianlian
The Chinese team keeps him in roster with an amount of money over the limit
Guangdong Southern Tigers crossed the border and set the new record for salaries in Chinese basketball history. In fact Yi Jianlian agreed to a five-year $16.100.000 contract extension with his team and will stay in Dongguan despite the interest of Beijing Ducks and Xinjiang Flying Tigers.
Yi, who will celebrate his 28th birthday next October, will earn $3.220.000 per season, like top Euroleague players.
Last season he reached 27.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Guangdong set the longest winning streak in CBA history (26 games), but didn't complete the program and lost the title.
