Best of CBA 2014-2015: Qi Zhou and all of his blocks

A little analysis of the Chinese big man who could go to the first round of the next draft

Other leagues

We already talked about Qi Zhou of the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, but every time there is always something new to say. If we talk about the best of the CBA, well...he is the best of the best that Chinese basketball can offer. 18 years old, 217 cm, and an ability to block everything on the court that makes genuinely impressed, especially if it's combined with intangibles and soft hand on the other side of the field.

The issue of defensive centers is always not to be (except in rare cases) malleable on the basketball court. Building a player who can dominate on both sides is the dream of every GM, especially NBA. Qi Zhou has absolutely the stigmata to be that kind of player. It's almost impossible not to compare him to Yao Ming, but the similarities are only in the passport, because they are very different.

With the increase of muscle mass around fifteen pounds the young Chinese big man would be a wall hardly surmountable even in the best league of the world; see the with ALL its blocked shots this year to understand what it means:

And the one with the offensive highlights too:

Qi Zhou could be a perfect situation for teams that are in a situation of salary cap flooded. The player won't go to the NBA next summer, allowing the team that chooses him not to incorporate his salary and actually to save important money (considering the heavy luxury tax), but at the same time he would be an interesting project to be built over the years, maybe starting through the D-League.

Some teams are in the case that responds to this identikit: Cleveland, but pay attention also to Houston or Dallas, places where the Chinese have been a relevance.

We can't also underestimate the sponsor: Qi Zhou has signed an economic agreement with Nike and is the only Chinese player who does not use clothing made by Li Ning, paying a penalty every each game for breach of contract.
