Stephon Marbury granted honorary citizenship in Beijing

Former NBA star Stephon Marbury was granted “honorary citizenship of Beijing” on April 2 for his leading the Beijing Ducks to their second Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) title within three years.

The 37-year-old said on his microblog Weibo that Beijing will always be his home and he will try his best to return the kindness shown towards him by the city and his fans.

The Honorary Citizen award was set up to recognize the contributions made by foreigners, overseas Chinese and people from Hong Kong and Macao towards the development of the capital city
