Chinese league, new regulations affecting import players

Here's a list of the changes to the CBA rules regarding the import players and the contract standards:

1. Contract Period

a) The contract period shall be for one season.

b) No renewal terms can be agreed beyond the relevant rules of the league.

2. Guaranteed Clause

a) Full and partial guarantees shall be determined at the discretion of the club.

b) Partial guarantees shall be calculated in game sessions of five (5), not in months. The minimum partial guarantee shall be five (5) games. The maximum partial guarantee shall be twenty (20) games. After the player has played through the original amount of games specified in the partial guarantee, the contract automatically extends to the next guarantee period. For example, after a player with a partial guarantee of five (5) games plays in the fifth (5) game, the contract extends to ten (10) games guaranteed and so forth.

3. Salary Standards

a) There is no maximum salary for foreign imports for the 2018-2019 season.
b) The clubs and shareholders shall convene to discuss whether or not to enforce a maximum salary for foreign imports for the 2019-2020 season.

4. Foreign Player Registration

a) Each club may register a total of six (6) foreign players throughout the regular season. However, only two (2) foreign players may be registered at the same time. Each club may register a total of four (4) foreign players throughout the playoffs. However, only two (2) foreign players may be registered at the same time (Including Asian imports).

b) Foreign player registration materials, not including work permit, work visa, and contracts, may be appropriately simplified.

5. Contract Terms

a) Specific contract terms shall be established in conjunction with a standard foreign import contract to be released in July.

6. Language Within

a) Foreign import contracts shall be bilingual with English and Chinese.
