As reported by Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald, the Boston Celtics have renounced rights to 2015 second-rounder Marcus Thornton. The player, who spent last season in Italy with Vuelle Pesaro, asked to be released by the Celtics to find new opportunities in Summer League.
Since he was drafted in 2015, Thornton has played mainly overseas, spending a season in Australia.
