EWE Baskets Oldenburg's Jason Gardner (178-G-80, agency: Interperformances, college: Arizona) was crowned with the MVP Award. The american Point Guard, who joined Oldenburg in 2007, averages 13.7 points and 4.0 assists per game this season and is one of the mainfactors that Oldenburg is currently on top of the table. Ulm's Jeff Gibbs (188-F-80, college: Otterbein), who is statistically again the most efficient player got the second most votes, last year's MVP Julius Jenkins (187-G-81, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Georgia Southern) finished third.
Even the most optimistic Goettingen fans would not have even dreamt about the team's success in this season. The architect of this year's biggest surprise team is John Patrick and he got honoured with the Coach of the Year award.
Earlier this week two ALBA Berlin players regained awards they already won last year: Julius Jenkins was named the Best Offensive Player and Immanuel McElroy (193-G-80, college: Cincinnati) the Best Defensive Player.
The BBL also honoured two young players with an award. Ulm's Per Gunther (185-G-88, agency: Rasmussen Services) is this year's Rookie of the Year and Goettingen's Roderick Trice (191-F-84, agency: Rasmussen Services, college: S.Carolina) gained Newcomer of the Year honours.
