Former Michigan point guard Trey Burke is making the most of his new opportunity with the New York Knicks. Over the first two games, he has averaged six points in 11 minutes, shooting 57% from the field.

Burke revealed to the NY Daily News that he received a $3 million offer from China when he was waived by the Knicks during the last training camp, but he turned it down so he could pursue a new NBA opportunity by playing for the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League, where salaries are much lower than that offer. At the end of the day, his decision parlayed into his current NBA contract with the New York Knicks for the remainder of the season.

“Scott Perry, that’s my guy,” said Burke. “He told me he was going to give me an opportunity to come (to Westchester) and start there, and if I do what I do, he’ll give me an opportunity (with the Knicks). Now we’re here, I just got to continue to get better.”
