Lakers making longer-term play to clear space for LeBron James pursuit in 2018
The Lakers will try to sign both Paul George and LeBron James
The Lakers traded D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Nets.
Now they are trying to trade either Jordan Clarkson or Julius Randle to the Pacers for Paul George.
They need also to stretch Luol Deng’s contract to have enough space to pursue LeBron James in the 2018 free agency.
LeBron will be free agent from July 1, 2018 and he could move to a Western Conference team for the first time in his career.

If LAL can find a home for Clarkson, not bring back Randle and stretch Deng, cap space in 18-19 would be $64m. Good enough for 2 max.
