Pat Riley hopes James Johnson and Dion Waiters will re-sign with Heat

Riley: "I hope that Dion and James and the rest of our free agents like it here enough that we're going to be fair with them and they're going to be fair with us"

NBA
Heat president Pat Riley hopes he can re-sign James Johnson and Dion Waiters in the July’s free agency.
The Heat have around $37 million to spend in the market.

Riley is expecting a big year from Justise Winslow who has missed almost the entire season with a wrist injury.

Per Florida Sun Sentinel, "I took a look at a lot of those guys, like Justise, who came in as one-and-done guys, and 20-years-old when he came here. He just turned 21 the other day," Riley said. "And I think Kawhi [Leonard] averaged eight points a game his first year. Six years later he's averaging 25. We're measuring these guys after like 75 games. And I think that's unfair. And I wish you would get off his 3-point shooting, because he's so much more than that.
"Give him a chance, man. But he ain't going anywhere."

On Waiters and Johnson, "I hope that Dion and James and the rest of our free agents like it here enough that we're going to be fair with them and they're going to be fair with us," Riley said, with the Heat positioned with roughly $37 million in salary-cap space for the July 1 start of NBA free agency.
