Wizards unveil new Stars and Stripes uniform
The official statement from Wizards
The Washington Wizards will pay honor to the men and women of the military with the addition of a new “Stars and Stripes” uniform during the 2016-17 season. The red, white and blue jersey will feature stars and stripes on each side while the shorts will highlight stripes and the Wizards’ Monument logo.
Fans can preorder the jersey at shop.monumentalsportsnetwork.com or at the team store on Oct. 13.
The team also announced that Leidos will serve as the presenting sponsor of their newly-established military series initiative. For games designated as part of the military series, the USO will donate 100 tickets, courtesy of Leidos, to military families of the designated branch being honored at the game. Leidos will also support the “Military Hero Recognition,” an on-court acknowledgement of a current or former military service member.
Leidos will also continue to support the “Tickets for Troops” donation program which gives Wizards season ticket members the opportunity to donate their unused game tickets to USO service members as well as the “Defending the Rim” platform. As part of that initiative, Leidos will donate $100 to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation for every block made by a Wizards player. Last season, Leidos donated $32,000 to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
“We are proud to continue to support and honor the men and women in our Armed Forces and their families,” said Roger Krone, Leidos Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Through this initiative, we hope to highlight their sacrifice and commitment throughout the year.”
