He received the award

NBA
Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors has won the 2015-16 Magic Johnson Award, which honors the player who best combines excellence on the basketball court with cooperation and dignity in dealing with the media and the public, the Professional Basketball Writers Association announced today.

Curry helped the Warriors compile a 73-9 record, the best regular-season record in NBA history. He led the league in scoring, averaging 30.1 points per game. He also sank 402 three-pointers as he made 45.4 percent of his three-point attempts.

Meanwhile, Curry fostered an atmosphere of mutual respect with the media.

Four additional players were Magic Johnson Award finalists: Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks, Draymond Green of the Warriors, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and Paul Millsap of the Atlanta Hawks.

The winner was selected through a vote of Professional Basketball Writers Association members.

The PBWA created the Magic Johnson Award in 2001. The association’s members continue to regard Earvin “Magic” Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers as the ideal model for the award.

The PBWA is composed of approximately 175 writers and editors who cover the NBA on a regular basis for newspapers, online outlets and magazines.
