NBA Preseason, Day 5: 6 games played

Timberwolves-Raptors:Kevin Love had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 101-89 preseason victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. DeMar DeRozan scored 17 points for Toronto and Rudy Gay added 11.

Pelicans-Magic:Anthony Davis scored 29 points and the New Orleans Pelicans remained unbeaten in three preseason games with a 99-95 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night. Nikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris scored 17 points each for Orlando in its preseason opener.

Knicks-Celtics: Tim Hardaway Jr. didn't take long to acclimate to life in the pros. The rookie scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter, including the go-ahead basket with 8.2 seconds to play, to lead the New York Knicks to a 103-102 preseason victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. Iman Shumpert scored 18 points, Metta World Peace added 13 and Andrea Bargnani had 12 for the Knicks, who led by as many as 23 points with 8:13 to play in their preseason opener. Phil Pressey led the Celtics (0-2) with 13 points, while Avery Bradley and Chris Babb added 12 apiece.

Mavericks-Grizzlies: Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points as the Dallas Mavericks withstood a fourth-quarter rally to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 95-90 in a preseason game Wednesday night. Jon Leuer had 17 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Grizzlies (0-2). Starters Mike Conley and Zach Randolph had 12 points apiece, while rookie Nick Calathes finished with 11 points for Memphis.

Suns-Blazers: Goran Dragic had 19 points and the Phoenix Suns held off a fourth-quarter rally by the Portland Trail Blazers for a 104-98 preseason victory Wednesday night. Suns forward Channing Frye, who missed the entire 2012-13 season with a heart condition, was 5 of 6 from the field and scored 14 points in his first preseason appearance.

Spurs-CSKA Moscow: Patty Mills hit the winner in Spurs' preseason opener against CSKA Moscow 95-93. The Australian ended with 14 points. Jeremy Pargo had 20 points for CSKA Moscow while Weems added 16.
