Raptors officially trade Andrea Bargnani to the Knicks

Raptors get Richardson, Camby and Novak plus picks

The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they have acquired former Raptors centre Marcus Camby, forwards Steve Novak and Quentin Richardson, a 2016 first-round draft pick and two second-round draft picks (2014 and 2017) in exchange for forward Andrea Bargnani.

“We collectively decided that a fresh start for both parties was the best way to move forward,” said Raptors President and General Manager, Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri. “We wish Andrea all the best.”

Camby, 6-foot-11, 240, is a 17-year veteran who began his NBA career as the second overall selection by the Raptors in the 1996 Draft. He played two seasons in Toronto before being dealt to New York on June 25, 1998 for forward Charles Oakley, the draft rights to forward Sean Marks and cash. Camby appeared in 126 games with Toronto, averaging 13.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 30.9 minutes.

Camby, 39, owns career regular season averages of 9.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 29.5 minutes in 973 outings. He has appeared in 79 postseason contests where he has averaged 7.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 28.4 minutes. He averaged a career-best 14.8 points in his rookie campaign and 13.1 rebounds in 2006-07 with Denver. He ranks in the Top 50 all-time in the NBA in blocks (2,331) and rebounds (9,513). Among active players through the 2012-13 season, he is second in blocks and third in rebounds.

Camby was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2006-07 and has made the all-defensive team on four occasions. He has led the NBA in blocks four times (1997-98 and 2005-08).

Novak, 6-foot-10, 235 pounds, is considered one of the top long-distance shooters in the NBA today. A second-round draft choice (32nd overall) by Houston in 2006, he owns career averages of 5.3 points, 1.4 rebounds and 13.5 minutes in 360 games. In 18 postseason outings, he has averaged 2.1 points, 1.2 rebounds and 9.5 minutes.

Novak, 30, made a career-best 149 three-pointers last season and ranked 11th in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.425). He was second in the NBA in three-point field goals per 48 minutes (4.36). He led the NBA in three-point field goal percentage in the 2011-12 season at .472 (133-282). For his career, he is shooting .433 (496-1,146) from three-point range and .886 (93-105) from the charity stripe.

Richardson, 6-foot-6, 228 pounds, has played for five teams (Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix, Miami, Orlando, and New York) in his 13 NBA seasons. He owns career averages of 10.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 26.5 minutes in 783 regular season outings and 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 25.0 minutes in 36 postseason contests. He has averaged in double figures in scoring in five seasons with a career-best 17.2 in his final season with the Clippers (2003-04).

Bargnani was the first overall pick by Toronto in the 2006 Draft. He played in 433 regular season games in seven campaigns, averaging 15.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 30.3 minutes. He scored a career-high 41 points at Madison Square Garden on December 8, 2010.
