Zeljko Obradovic: 'If the NBA calls me, I could go'

Obradovic said that he could be ready to move to the NBA to a team who can fight for the playoffs

Zeljko Obradovic had a long interview with El Juego de Naismith. The Serbian coach took a year off after his 13 straight seasons with Panathinaikos. Obradovic said that he would consider moving to the NBA next season if an ambitious team will call him.

"When I took this decision was, above all, because after working for thirteen years in a team it would have been very hard for me to change about changing suddenly. And I thought it was the perfect time to do so. I told to the world that I will not coach this season and I will rest till June. If I get a proposal for next season, I will talk with my family but after all I will make the decision because I want a project where I can be happy. And this is going to be the most important aspect. Having seen how the NBA preseason is, I can say that not just me, but other European coaches could work there. I don't know if someone will call me from the NBA, what I can say is that no NBA teams have called me in the past because I loved more to live in Europe. But now I started to have some doubts about that. And if an important NBA team calls me, I will think about the offer and I could go. I don't want to go to a team who has no chance to make playoffs. Until now, I had no contacts with any team in the NBA" said Obradovic.

The Detroit Pistons could be an option for Zeljko Obradovic. Pistons fired coach Lawrence Frank and they are on the market for a new coach. And Obradovic is a strong option.
