The technological age has changed a lot in our lives; everything from how we communicate to how we acquire various goods and services. Many industries have been revolutionized –for the better –by technological innovation, and the sporting industry is no exception here. Today we have a look at five important ways technology has influenced and improved the sports industry.

1. Watching sports

In a time before television sets people who were not near where a sports match was happening, would not be able to see and enjoy it. Aside from geographical location, televised sports have become accessible to a far larger number of people, who may not be able to afford pricy game tickets. This means that no matter where you are, or how much money you make, you can still enjoy watching your favorite sports team play a match so long as you have a TV. While many people still prefer the option of seeing the live game, new high definition televisions have drastically increased the quality of the viewing. In addition, there are many streaming options for sports online, so if you are on the move or very busy you still have a means of watching the game.

2. Sports Betting

Sports betting is an old favorite pastime of sports’ lovers who want to make a bit of money in their free time. Before the internet, one had to physically go to a book-keeper to place one’s bets for a game. However, technology has now made this so much easier as this cumbersome process has now been streamlined with websites. In addition, you now also get some very decent betting apps android devices can use. So many sports enthusiasts are busy professionals who are always on the go. A betting app is thus a super convenient option to use when making your bets.

3. Fan communities

The community fans of a given sports team or club feel are as old as time itself. While it used to be a case of fans meeting up physically to watch the match together, either in a bar or at the stadium –now fans from all over the world can unite online and share their love for their team through sports forums.

4. Sporting games

Something that is pretty new to the sporting industry are ancillary sporting console and computer games that many fans enjoy playing. This includes crowd favorites like Fifa and NFL 2K1. The technology behind Nintendo Wii is incredibly innovative and allows the gaming experience to be brought to life through augmented reality. This is another way in which technology is able to expand the sports industry in a way that creates additional fun and entertainment for sports’ fans.

5. Buying sports related goods

How we now buy sports related goods has been revolutionized by modern technology. Whether you want to buy merchandise or tickets to sporting games; technology now allows you to do this through online shopping. Once again technology is bringing endless convenience to our busy lives!
