The feeling couldn't be better. Sito Alonso signed to be head coach of Lagun Aro GBC San Sebastian, and he will restart in the ACB 2011/2012 from a project who seems to be perfect for him. Born in 2001, Gipuzkoa Basket Club just celebrated its first 10 years of history on June 25th, 2011. Starting from LEB2 in 2001/2002, after two seasons the team reached the LEB, and after two more years it arrived to the ACB, where it played in the last four seasons. In the 2011/2012 season, Lagun Aro GBC San Sebastian will play its fifth season in the ACB, starting a new part of the project, with Sito Alonso called to lead it as the new head coach, signing a contract for the next two seasons, until June 30th 2013.   Born in Madrid on December 4th 1976, at just the age of 36 Sito Alonso has more than twenty years of coaching experience, as he started when he was just 11, thanks to his father who gave him the responsability of coaching the female team of Compania de Maria School in 1986... After dividing between playing and coaching in Zaragoza and Monzon, he definitely choose to become a professional basketball coach in 1997, as assistant coach and then, from 2000, head coach of Cosehisa Monzon in EBA. In 2004/2005 he deserved to be call to coach Prat-Joventut, the satellite team in EBA of Joventut Badalona, and one year later he become assistant coach of Aíto García Reneses at DKV Joventut Badalona in ACB.   They worked together day by day for three seasons, during which they achieved the best results ever in the history of Joventut, always keeping on the basis of the youth team tradition, the famous "cantera". Finally, when Aíto moved to work for the National Team of Spain, Joventut promoted the 32 years old Sito Alonso: as the youngest coach of ACB League, he closed his first season at 5th place, with a record of 22 wins and 10 losses. And when after one more season - participating also to the Euroleague - the ways of club and head coach parted, they both kept a strong, sincere relationship, thanks to the thousands of positive memories and achievements during six unforgettable seasons together.
