Barcelona keeps captain Grimau

Regal FC Barcelona captain Roger Grimau will remain with the team for at least one more year after the sides agreed on an extension Thursday. Grimau (196, 32), who lifted the club's second Euroleague trophy in May in Paris, will mark his eighth straight season with Barcelona this year. The team had an option to extend Grimau’s contract for 2010-11 at the end of the season and Grimau agreed to give the club extra time to make the decision. On Thursday Barcelona announced that it was activating the option to keep Grimau. Last season he averaged 4.5 points and 2.1 rebounds in 22 Euroleague games off the bench. Grimau has also played for Caprabo Lleida and Joventut Badalona during his professional career. With Barcelona he has won the Euroleague once, the Spanish League twice and the Spanish King’s Cup twice. He also has a silver medal from EuroBasket 2003 with the Spanish national team.
