Tickets for Mexico-USA Qualifiers clash sell-out in less than an hour

Statement from FIBA

National Teams

The important FIBA Basketball World Cup Americas Qualifiers third window game between Mexico and USA will be played at a sold out Gimnasio Olimpico Juan de la Barrera of Mexico City.

The important clash will be on June 28, and it will be Mexico’s final home game of the first round. The Mexican National Federation (ADEMEBA) has reported that the 5,000 tickets sold in 45 minutes.

During the third window of the Qualifiers, Mexico will present a vastly different team compared to the one that suffered a 91-55 loss to the USA on Greensboro, North Carolina during the first window, following the appointment of Ivan Deniz as new Head Coach and the possible arrival of legendary center Gustavo Ayon.

Ayon, a FIBA AmeriCup 2013 champion, will add a needed offensive weapon and defensive presence in the paint for the Mexicans during the important clashes against the USA and Puerto Rico.

Mexico will close-out the first round of Americas Qualifiers in San Juan, where the “12 Guerreros” will play Puerto Rico in a sold-out Coliseo Roberto Clemente on July 1. USA, for their part, will then travel to Habana, for a historic clash with Cuba also on July 1.
