Eight federations lost their rights to participate in Eurobasket, six may risk it

A statement from FIBA about the next Eurobasket

National Teams
The following eight (8) federations, whose leagues and/or clubs have – as per recent reports and public statements of the leagues and ECA – entered into an agreement with the ECA received a letter confirming that they have lost their right to participate in the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2017.

These are the national federations of: Bosnia & Herzegovina; Croatia; Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; Montenegro; Russia; Serbia; Slovenia; Spain. All eight countries have until 20th April to provide proof that the mentioned agreements are not in place or they will not be implemented.

Six (6) other federations have received a letter drawing their attention to recent reports and public statements which suggest that one or more of their clubs may have entered into such agreement with ECA. As a result these federations are invited to submit their position before 20th April in order to not automatically forfeit their right to participate in the upcoming senior men national team competitions.

These are the national federations of: Greece; Israel; Italy; Lithuania; Poland; Turkey.
