Most prominent players that were left out of the preliminary squad (2 players still to be cut):

    Rogier Jansen (PG/SG)
    Stefan Wessels (SF/PF)
    Ross Bekkering (PF) and
    Josh Duinker (PF/C)

All in all a big man laden squad. Lot's of skill and talent on the wings with slasher De Jong, and prolific shooter Akerboom. The rotation on the pg position is still very much in the air. Really looking forward to seeing young Franke play at this level one of Europes best scorers in his ageclass but can he find consistent shooting from outside to keep defenses honest. This tournament might just come a couple years too early for him. Other players that will have to fight for a spot on the final roster: Kherazzi, a hustle player, more of a natural PF, but too small to play PF at this level. The same goes for Ralph DePagter who plays under ass. coach Sam Jones at Den Bosch. Sean Cunningham has improved greatly over the last couple of years but his relationship with coach Van Helfteren hasn't always been a happy one, is a combo guard and probably more a 2 than a 1 and at the 2 there are more than enough options for coach Van Helfteren, will therefor only survive if other pg's prove too inexperienced. The big unknown is Nicolas De Jong the Frenchman with the Dutch dad. He will also have to prove his worth going up against some settled names in the Dutch squad, players with proven worth such as Norel (CAI Zaragoza), Smeulders (Oldenburg) and Schaftenaar (Rethymno)

    On a completely different note:
Holland is the name of the combined territories 2 western provinces in our lovely country (Noord- and Zuid-Holland), that not coincidentally incorporate the countries most important cities (a.o. Amsterdam, Den Haag and Rotterdam). The country however is called The Netherlands and not Holland.
