The results from the opening day in Prague

National Teams

Spain-Canada 81-70
No Andrew Wiggins in team Canada, that loses from Spain in the last quarter: after three quarters the score is tied (54-54), but Spain makes a run in the starting minutes of the fourth, also thanks to 10 points from Edgar Vicedo, a small forward from Estudiantes (he ends the game with 17 points and 4/5 from three point range); the Spanish have also 23 points from Josep Perez e 12 from Willy Hernangomez, one of the best surprises at the last Eurocamp in Treviso.
The Canadians have 20 points from Tyler Ennis and 17 from Xavier Rathan-Mayes and Trey Lyles.

Australia-Senegal 90-46
A blowout, with Senegal scoring only 19 points in the second half. The African team has a really good roster from a physical and an athletic point of view, but at the same time players are extremely raw. Top scorer is combo-guard Pape Diatta with 24 points, while no other of his teammates scores in double figures.
Australia has 16 points from swingman Felix Kalau von Hofe and a very good game from Boise State's recruit Nick Duncan.

Croatia-Korea 106-89
The European champions have a hard time in gaining their first game against a tough Korea: after trailing by one at the half, they make the ultimate break in the third quarter (33-18), securing the win.
An outstanding Dario Saric finished with a triple-double (32 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists, with 13/19 from the field), while Korea has 35 points (14/19 from the field) from wing Sangjae Kang.
Villanova's Mislav Brzoja adds 21 points and 10 rebounds for Croatia

Serbia-Brazil 65-50
With a great defensive game, Serbia is able to win despite difficulties that results from not having received team's luggage yet (it's all stuck in Paris): they hold Brazil to only 30 points in the first three quarters, and make them score with a ridiculous 31% from the field.
While Vasilje Micic has a day off (8 points, 0 assists e 6 turnovers), top scorers are Nikola Milutinov (15) and Nikola Jankovic (12); Brazil has 19 points from promising Lucas Dias Silva and 11 from Daniel Barbieri (Laboral Kutxa, '96).

China-Russia 61-59
A close game, with China taking the ultimate lead with less than 30 seconds on the clock. Man of the match is Qi Zhou, a 7'1" tall, 17-years-old center, that gives the lead to his team and shortly afterwards blocks Rostislav Karenin's shot with 16 seconds on the clock. Zhou nearly gets a triple-double with 28 points, 17 rebounds and 9 blocks, while Karenin leads the way for Russia (14).

Czech Republic-Lithuania 74-77
A bitter debut for the hosts, which after a balanced game (63-63 at the end of the third quarter) fall in the last quarter against the runner-up in last year's European Championship.
Bad game for Alicante's Radovan Kouril, held 3/14 from the field, while Martin Peterka is the top scorer for Czech Republic (21). Lithuania has 16 from Marius Grigonis, 14 from Jokubas Gintvainis and a double-double from Denis Krestinin (14 points, 10 rebounds).

Iran-Argentina 84-73
The biggest shock from day one comes from Group B, where Iran unexpectedly dominates the first three quarters (69-44) and controls the Argentinian late comeback in the fourth. Leading the way for Iran is point guard Sajjad Mashayekhi, with 32 points, 9 rebounds and 11/18 from the field.
Argentina shoots 35% from the field and 47% from the free throw line: top scorer is Matias Bernardini with 15 points, while a disappointing Gabriel Deck finishes with 10 points.

Cote d'Ivoire-USA 29-88
10, 7, 5, 7... these are the points scored in every quarter for Cote d'Ivoire, that shoots 18% from the field, commits 21 turnovers and have no one scoring in double figures (center Dalen Traoré is held at 9).
Garbage time for USA, which has no one playing more than 22 minutes and has 14 points from Justise Winslow, 12 from Aaron Gordon and Jarnell Stokes and 10 from Jahlil Okafor.
