Mens Sana encouraged by Matt Janning's performance against Prokom

Serie A

Mens Sana Siena officials woke up Saturday morning grinning from ear to ear -- and they had multiple reasons of doing so.

In addition to Siena recording back-to-back Euroleague victories for the first time this season and scoring guard Bobby Brown receiving the competition's weekly Most Valuable Player award; Siena's executives were strongly encouraged by the noteworthy performance of Euroleague rookie guard Matt Janning.

After shooting guard Marcelus Kemp (injury) failed to travel with the Italians to Poland, Janning was told he would be inserted into the starting lineup for the first time this season. Janning came ready.

Behind Brown's 27, Janning scored 16 points on 4-8 shooting from beyond the arc, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 1 assist and collected 1 block in 31 minutes of action.

Yet this wasn’t the first time the 24-year-old Janning delivered when given the opportunity. During Siena's preseason exhibition game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Janning played a season-high 38 minutes, pouring 5-8 threes en route to a 21 points, 5 rebounds and 2 dimes performance.
