Months after reaching the Eurocup Finals together, Benetton Basket announced Friday that veteran captain Massimo Bulleri will be back for another season. Bulleri (1.88 meters, 33 years old) was Benetton's leading scorer in the two-game Eurocup Finals back in April, averaging 10 points. He finished the 15-game Eurocup season having scored 7.6 points per game while posting the competition's fourth-best three-point (45.5%) and seventh-best free-throw (86.1%) percentages. Bulleri, who came up from Benetton's junior system, has been a two-time Italian League champion with the club and an Olympic silver medalist with Italy. Bulleri spent seven of his first nine pro seasons with Benetton, reaching as far as the 2003 Euroleague Final Four after having averaged 10.9 points that season. His high scoring average in the Euroleague game in the first two of his four seasons with Armani Jeans Milano, 2005-06 and 2007-08, when he put up 13.3 points per game. Bulleri returned to Benetton last season and led the team into the Eurocup Finals in Treviso, but despite his 15 points in the semifinal, Cajasol Sevill of Spain won and advanced to the title game. Benetton then returned to the Italian League semifinals after a one-season absence, thus earning its place in the 2011-12 Eurocup Regular Season.
