Virtus Roma interested in Maestranzi, Mordente, Katelynas and Varnado
Intanto Tanjevic dovrebbe rimanere come super consulente a distanza
Virtus Roma was, until yesterday, the only team in Serie A without a coach and a GM. The Italian club named late Lino Lardo as head coach and former Italian international Antonello Riva as GM.
Now there are the first targets for the team which will not play in any European competition next season.
For the playmaker position the main candidate is Anthony Maestranzi. The American-Italian play signed a three-year contract with Montepaschi Siena but he will be loaned next season. Pepsi Caserta and Roma are the two teams interested in him.
In guard position, the name is Marco Mordente. Former Italian International left Olimpia Milano at the end of the season and is free agent and looking for a new team.
Third name is Mindaugas Katelynas. The Lithuanian PF is free agent as well after he parted ways with Cajasol Sevilla at the end of the season. Katelynas has played in Italy with Cantù and Milano.
As big man, Roma is eyeing Jarvis Varnado. The center, selected by Miami Heat in 2010 NBA Draft, spent his rookie season in Italian Legadue with Pistoia showing important skills. Varnado is also targeted by Spanish team Asssignia Manresa.
Bogdan Tanjevic will stay in the team as consultant.
