Benetton appoints Repesa as new boss

Benetton Gioco Digitale and Jasmin Repesa signed a multi-year deal for the veteran coach guide the Italian powerhouse, the club announced Monday. Repesa, 49, has coached in Italy in each of the last seven seasons. He has also led the Croatian national team since 2007. Repesa's last club was Lottomatica Roma, in which he coached from the summer of 2006 till December 2008. Repesa helped Roma make it to the Italian League finals in 2008. He also worked for Fortitudo Bologna, winning the Italian League title in 2005 and making it all the way to the Euroleague title game in 2004. He has also coached Cibona, Split and Dona Zagreb in his native Croatia, Tofas Bursa in Turkey and Slask Wroclaw in Poland. He led Tofas to the Turkish League and Turkish Cup titles in 1999 and also lifted the Croatian League and Croatian Cup trophies in 2002. Repesa replaces Frank Vitucci, who had been promoted to head coach this season after six years as Benetton's assistant coach.
