He comes from Cimberio Varese

Serie A

Pallacanestro Olimpia EA7 – Emporio Armani Milano agreed on terms with Bruno Cerella, 27, 1.94 meters tall, 93 kg, an Argentinian with an Italian passport, coming from Cimberio Varese.

COACH BANCHI’S OPINION – “We welcome a player with Italian league experience. Cerella is going to be an important part of our perimeter rotation because of the intensity he showed in all the stops of his career”.

WHAT DID HE SAY? – “I’m coming from a 14-hour flight back from Argentina but very impressed by activity in the team’s office. I’m very proud to have the opportunity to give my help to such an extraordinary team. I don’t like to speak about my skills, I prefer to talk about the way I play, with my heart and giving a 100% effort every time”.

WHO’S CERELLA - Cerella was born in Bahia Blanca, the same city where the great star Emanul Ginobili grew up, probably the only Argentinian city where basketball is dominant even over soccer. Cerella, born on July 30, 1986, arrived in Italy to play for Massafra, then Salerno and finally Potenza. From Potenza he took off to go up, to Teramo in 2008, where he played behind David Moss helping the team to reach the Italy Cup semifinal and the third place in the Italian league regular season. Cerella stayed two seasons in Teramo, then he was loaned to Casalpusterlengo in Legadue (12.6 points, 32.1 minutes played per game, shooting 39.7% from three, 85.9% from the line while grabbing 4.9 rebounds and having 2.4 steals on average). He returned to Teramo for the 2011/12 season. Coached by Alessandro Ramagli he averaged 9.0 points per game in 24.9 minutes, shhoting 63.8% from two and conquering 3.2 rebounds per game. He suffered a knee injury in the very last game of the season in Milano. During the summer he moved to Varese where he played only 21 games while recovering from the injury. He has a personal-best of 27 points in game, against Biella, on February 27, 2012 while playing for Teramo.

NOTES - Cerella created and supports “Slums Dunk”, a solidarity project to support the youngsters living in the poor areas of Nairobi, using the Onlus “Karibu Afrika”. - See more at: http://www.olimpiamilano.com/en/from-bahia-blanca-to-milano-bruno-cerella/#sthash.sUuCd7iL.qssgs7lG.dpuf
