EuroLeague
For the first time this season the Euroleague’s weekly MVP honor is shared by two players. And it couldn’t be more fitting. Two-time All-Euroleague selection Erazem Lorbek of FC Barcelona Regal and Milan Macvan of Partizan mt:s are two of the best big man in the game and both starred in important wins for their respective teams en route to sharing Week 7 bwin MVP honors. Lorbek needed just 25 minutes to produce 15 points with just 2 missed shots plus 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a block in posting a performance index rating of 25 as Barcelona remained undefeated with a 45-76 road win at Asseco Prokom Gdynia. Macvan starred for Partizan in a tough 74-71 victory over Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv. Macvan tallied 22 points on 6-of-8 two-point and 3-of-6 three-point shooting in addition to 8 rebounds, an assist and a steal to also achieve an index rating of 25. Ironically, Macvan’s finest performance and career-high in scoring came against Maccabi, which whom Macvan is signed through 2015, but sent him on loan to Partizan at the start of this season. Three other stars of key victories rounded out the list of top Week 7 performers: Curtis Jerrells of Fenerbahce Ulker, Viktor Khryapa of CSKA Moscow and Sergio Rodriguez of Real Madrid. Jerrells came off the bench for 17 points and 5 assists for a performance index rating of 24 in an 86-70 win over Olympiacos. Khryapa, a former Euroleague Best Defender award winner, tallied 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for his 24 index in CSKA’s 78-81 win at the buzzer of Brose Baskets. And Rodriguez went for 19 points with just 2 missed shots plus 4 rebounds and 2 assists in a 65-72 win over EA7 Emporio Armani Milan that lifted Madrid into the Top 16. You also have a choice!
