The names of the eight referees who will work the 2009 Final Four in Berlin have been announced by Euroleague Basketball. The full list of referees includes Juan Carlos Arteaga of Spain, Shmuel Bachar of Israel, Ilija Belosevic of Serbia, Romualdas Brazauskas of Lithuania, Sasa Pukl of Slovenia, Fernando Rocha of Portugal, Lazaros Voreadis of Greece and Jakub Zamojski of Poland. Returning from last year's crew is Brazauskas, in his fifth Final Four since the 2001-02 season, who also officiated the 1997 and 2000 top continental finals. Arteaga - 2002, 2005 -, Belosevic - 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 - and Pukl - 2007 - already have previous Final Four experience while Bachar, Rocha, Voreadis and Zamojski are newcomers to European basketball's signature event. Brazauskas also officiated the Eurocup Final Eight last season. By assigning newcomers to the Final Four officiating crew, the Euroleague aims both to reward professional competency and diversify the pool of referees with experience in Europe's top basketball event. Along with refereeing assignments, the appointment of two game commissioners for the Final Four was announced. They are Uli Sledz of Germany and Eduard Tartaglia of Croatia. The Final Four will be held from Friday May 1 to Sunday May 3 at the o2 World in the German capital and features the four teams: CSKA Moscow, Regal FC Barcelona, Panathinaikos and Olympiacos.
