Bertomeu on 2017 Final Four: They'll be in Istanbul, we won't step back. We have security guarantees
Bertomeu confirms that the EuroLeague Final Four will be in Istanbul
EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu confirmed that the 2017 Final Four will be played in Istanbul despite the recent terror attacks in the Turkish city and in other part of the country.
“We are worried, of course. Statistically Turkey has a higher number of terror attacks but they are also happening in other countries. We won’t leave Istanbul, we can’t step back from our decision. If we step back, we’ll let them (terrorists) win. We have security guarantees because the Turkish government has more interest than us that nothing will happen in an international event. The response of the fans who bought all the tickets in less than two hours is the most powerful message we can send” Bertomeu told El Mundo.
