The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague will have a new elite standard in instant replay technology available to their referees, unified scorers and broadcasters
The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague will have a new elite standard in instant replay technology available to their referees, unified scorers and broadcasters when the season tips off next week thanks to a new collaboration with Hawk-Eye Innovations.
An integral part in more than 20 sports around the world, Hawk-Eye makes sport fairer, safer, smarter and more engaging with a focus on aiding officials, broadcasters, coaches and athletes. A game-changer in top class cricket and tennis, Hawk-Eye works with leagues and federations at the highest levels of football, cricket, athletics, baseball, ice hockey, rugby, horse racing, automobile racing, Australian rules football and Gaelic games. Hawk-Eye’s state-of-the-art technology comes to the EuroLeague following its involvement with the British Basketball League and Japan’s B.League. SMART Replay will capture eight video feeds at EuroLeague games with the Instant Replay System Operator sitting courtside.
“Hawk-Eye are delighted to be embarking on this partnership with Euroleague Basketball and IMG to deliver a world-class instant review system to the leading EuroLeague competition,” Kit Stormont, Hawk-Eye Innovation’s Director of SMART Replay said. “We recognise this as a landmark occasion in basketball’s history. We are proud to be playing a part in improving standards across the game and look forward to working further with Euroleague Basketball to continue to innovate and drive the sport forward.”
“Our new joint venture with IMG allows us to make significant improvements to the product that our fans tune in to watch night after night” said Eduard J. Scott, Chief Operations Officer at Euroleague Basketball. “We are very happy to apply a unified Instant Replay System solution across all Turkish Airlines EuroLeague arenas, using eight different camera angles for the first time in history. All of these together with club provided operators will help our referees and unified scorers to take the correct decision in a short amount of time. We expect that this partnership will offer further opportunities to enhance game operations and the game broadcast in future seasons.”
