Meeting in Barcelona, the principal European domestic leagues agree with Euroleague Basketball on a strategic plan for the growth of professional club basketball.

The major European domestic leagues (Adriatic Basketball Association (ABA), Asociacion de Clubes de Baloncesto (ACB), Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), Basketball Super League (BSL), Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association (HEBA), Lietuvos Krepsinio Lyga (LKL), Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB), Polska Liga Koszykowski (PLK), United Basketball League (UBL)), and Euroleague Basketball met in the latter's headquarters in Barcelona to continue their ongoing discussions about the future of European professional club basketball. Following upon the strategic plan presented and approved at the ECA Shareholders Meeting last July, Euroleague Basketball and the domestic leagues have found consensus in order to homogenize and improve the general standards across their domestic leagues.

The agreement achieved at the meeting highlights as its objectives the establishment of common frameworks that permit more uniformity in key aspects such as: harmonized clubs competition calendars; unified technical rules; financial fair play respecting the market differences in each territory; minimum standards for arenas; comprehensive European competitions’ structures (Turkish Airlines Euroleague and Eurocup).

The objective is to develop these measures progressively and together over the upcoming seasons. Euroleague Basketball and the domestic leagues consider that all these measures will influence positively upon the fan experience, will assure stability and high standards in domestic competitions, and will heighten the competitive balance between clubs from different territories.

The parties also agreed to postpone any discussions about the long term plans and vision regarding the structure of the European club competitions as was originally presented in the ECA Shareholders Meeting last July. These conversations will resume in the future only after achieving the necessary consensus.

The domestic leagues have reaffirmed their commitment that Euroleague Basketball will continue to manage the European club basketball competitions as well as coordinate the strategic plan for growth within a framework of unity, dialogue and consensus.
