Regular season Round 7 bwin MVP: Boban Marjanovic, Crvena Zvezda

Marjanovic is the MVP of Round 7

EuroLeague
The Turkish Airlines Euroleague's tallest player, Boban Marjanovic, continued his dominance of the regular season on Thursday by leading Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade to a 79-62 victory over Neptunas Klaipeda and securing bwin weekly MVP honors for the second time this season. Marjanovic, who was also the Round 1 bwin MVP, adds another weekly bwin MVP award to his roll of honors after he compiled 24 points on 11-of-13 shooting plus 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block for a performance index rating of 36. That rating was the highest among all players in Round 7 of the regular season. Marjanovic already has four double-doubles this season, leads the competition in average index rating (25.6) and rebounds (10.1 rpg.), and is ranked among the leaders in scoring (17.3 ppg.) too. Another big center was the runner-up in the Round 7 MVP race. Miro Bilan of Cedevita Zagreb recorded an index rating of 34 in leading his team to a 102-83 victory over Limoges CSP. Bilan made 10 of 12 shots en route to a career-high 24 points. He also snagged 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Unics Kazan’s big weapons from its 75-85 win at Real Madrid are next on the list. D’or Fischer posted a 33 index and Curtis Jerrells a 31. Fischer went for 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks, while Jerrells scored 23 points on 5-of-7 three-point shooting, grabbed 8 boards and dished 5 assists. Tying Jerrells with a 31 index was Pietro Aradori, who did so for Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul in a losing effort at Valencia Basket. Aradori finished with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

Individual leaders: Shane Lawal of Dinamo Sassari, 15 rebounds

On a week in which he moved into fourth place on the competition’s career scoring charts, it was only fitting that Olympiacos Piraeus guard Vassilis Spanoulis would also have the most points of any player. His 27 in a loss at Laboral Kutxa Vitoria were the most in Round 7. With 19.4 points per game, Spanoulis is second only to Nizhny Novgorod’s Taylor Rochestie (19.7 ppg.) for scoring this season. Shane Lawal of Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari soared for 15 rebounds in his teams loss at Anadolu Efes Istanbul, which led all Round 7 players. He leapt to third for the season with 7.7 rebounds per game. Marjanovic (10.1 rpg.) sits atop the top rebounders' chart. PGE Turow guard Tony Taylor and Cedevita guard Roko Ukic each had 9 assists, the most in Round 7 action. Injured CSKA guard and former Euroleague MVP Milos Teodosic’s 8.4 assists per game remain the standard for this season. Leo Westermann of Limoges came up with 6 steals to top the Round 7 charts. He also tied Sassari’s David Logan for second place on the season-long standings with 2.4 steals per game. Nizhny’s Tarence Kinsey leads all players with 2.6 steals per game. The best shot-blocker of the week was Fischer of Unics with 5. Brian Randle of Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv still leads all shot-blockers with 2.4 per game. Five players recorded double-doubles, all in points and rebounds, respectively: Marjanovic (24 and 12), Lawal (10 and 15), Dario Saric of Anadolu Efes (18 and 11), Nemanja Bjelica of Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul (16 and 10), Sasha Kaun of CSKA Moscow (15 and 10).
