Regular Season Round 3 bwin MVP: Jaycee Carroll, Real Madrid

In a week that saw history made, one of the Euroleague’s premier shooters turned in his best effort yet to claim Regular Season Round 3 bwin MVP honors. Jaycee Carroll of Real Madrid scored a career-high 32 points and tied a team record with 7 three-pointers made to lead his team to a 112-83 victory over Nizhny Novgorod. Carroll also drew 7 fouls and was perfect in 5 trips to the line as he compiled a performance index rating of 37, which was not only the best in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague for Round 3, but the highest in the competition this season. Carroll had stiff competition for the weekly honor as former Euroleague MVP Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos Piraeus and Brian Randle of Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv each posted index ratings of 34 in victory. Spanoulis scored a career-high 34 points as the Reds bested Neptunas Klaipeda 81-85 after overtime. He also totaled 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. Randle rocked with his finest Euroleague performance to date, leading Maccabi to a 69-84 road win over his former team, ALBA Berlin, with 25 points on near-perfect shooting plus 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Next on the list of the week’s top performances was Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade center Boban Marjanovic, who tallied a 27 index in a 76-63 victory over Valencia Basket. Marjanovic, who was the Round 1 bwin MVP, went for 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Rounding out the list of the week’s best were Nenad Krstic of Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Justin Doelmann of FC Barcelona, who both had 25 index ratings. 



Individual leaders: Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos Piraeus, 34 points 

Spanoulis peppered the nets for 34 points, which were not only the most in Round 3, but the highest total in the league this season. Spanoulis also vaulted himself into first place for the season with 19.3 points per game. CSKA Moscow big man Kyle Hines hauled in 12 rebounds on Friday to lead the Round 3 charts. John Bryant of FC Bayern Munich has the highest rebounds average so far with 10 per game. Two players dished 10 assists in Thursday games, Jeremy Pargo of Maccabi Electra and Dimitris Diamantidis of Panathinaikos, to lead all players. Diamantidis also became the first player in competition history to reach 1,000 career assists. Pargo tops the season-long charts with 8 assists per game. Eight players - Rudy Fernandez and Sergio Llull of Real Madrid, Karlo Zganec of Cedevita Zagreb, Leo Westermann of Limoges CSP, Sam Van Rossom of Valencia Basket, Martynas Mazeika of Neptunas Klaipeda, David Moss of EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and David LOgan of Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari - each collected 3 steals in Round 3. Logan leads the standings with 3.7 steals per night. Salah Mejri of Madrid, Shawn James of Milan and Randle each had 3 blocks. James and Andrey Vorontsevich lead the standings, each with 5 blocks in 3 games. Three players - Pargo, Simas Galdikas of Neptunas and John Bryant of FC Bayern Munich - registered respective double-doubles in regular season Round 3.
